Zijne Koninklijke Hoogheid Prins Friso is vandaag, op 12 augustus op 44-jarige leeftijd overleden. Prins Friso is overleden aan complicaties die zijn opgetreden ten gevolge van de hersenbeschadiging veroorzaakt door zuurstoftekort bij zijn ski-ongeval op 17 februari 2012 in Lech, Oostenrijk.

Tweede Kamerfractievoorzitter Arie Slob regeert namens de ChristenUnie: "Ik ben onder de indruk van het bericht dat Prins Friso is overleden. Mijn diepe medeleven gaat uit naar zijn vrouw Mabel en hun kinderen. Wat een verdriet ook voor zijn moeder Prinses Beatrix en andere leden van de Koninklijke familie. Wij leven als fractie met hen mee en bidden voor hen om troost en kracht."
